別名 蕃薯仔鳥(台語)
臺灣特有種，其特徵為全身橄欖綠，眼下方有一橙黃色斑塊。成對或小群活動，平常叫聲為”嘰~啾兒~”，為臺灣中海拔闊葉林中相當普遍的物種，在溪頭數量非常多，又因其常在地面跳動穿越道路，常被戲稱溪頭老鼠。
The Liocichla steerii, a.k.a the Taiwan Liocichla, is another fascinating creature endemic to our island. The olive-green bird is characterized by a small yellow patch under its eyes as well as its unique “squeeky” chirp. These little birds of green feather often flock in abundance together at the NTU Xitou Nature Education Area in Nantou County, and as they are often spotted bouncing about on the roads, locals have dubbed them the “Xitou mice.”
